I Want Those Flashing Lights

By Colin Munroe

Maybe even better than Kanye's original? You decide.

TuneGlue

TuneGlue is this great application for discovering new music by mapping out music you already like. Its got a great interface so play around with it, even if you don't find anything, its still cool to look at.

Yay, finally got to see this guy. Jens Lekman sounds so much better live, so if you think his recorded materials good, try and seeing him on tour.

Nude Remix

Radiohead is holding a remix competition for their song "Nude." And in a partnership with Itunes you can buy song clips of the finished song, like the vocals, drums, guitar, and when you purchase all five before April 8 you will receive a promo-code for access to a free Garage Band file to help you create your version of the song.

Several remixes are out there already, but the Ghost Fuck remix is amazing (it's epic), and is probably why its ahead of everybody else's. Be sure to check it out.

"Oh, Britney" (on HIMYM)

That's all I gotta say. You made me laugh, but not in a good way.

Sound of Kuduro

By Buraka Som Sistema
This song's crazy, it features M.I.A. on backup, and it's got sweet dance moves. Enjoy!

Outside Lands

Besides the earlier confirmed headliners (Radiohead, Jack Johnson, and Tom Petty), they just released news for the rest of their lineup. It's going to be crackin'. I'm excited to see Wilco, Broken Social Scene, Devendra Banhart, Andrew Bird, M. Ward, and the Cool Kids.

Tickets go on sale this Sunday March 30th and come around to $225.50 for the three-day pass.

It's Sunshine-y

The long and grueling Finals Week is finally over.

Spring Break's here, start off fresh with a new quarter of classes, changing seasons... everything, I feel, is going by way too fast. Before you know it my first year of college is over.

Just like for everything in life: take time to enjoy the small things. And you should to, if you happen to be in SoCal, enjoy the weather, today's such a nice day.

Here's a posting from the Dodo's, they've got a new album out and they're from San Francisco (gotta support them local bands from and around home). Too bad I missed them when they stopped by San Jose last month, but they've got a few more stops across the good ol' U S of A.

April 27: Great American Music Hall--San Francisco
May 2: The Natural History Museum--Los Angeles (somebody take me to this one)
June 19: The Independent--San Francisco

The Dodo's: Red and Purple

What I Listen to while Studying for Finals

Something mellow. Something acoustic. Something soothing to the ears.
Sleeping States: "The Next Step"

Some Racing, Some Stopping

Check out the Headlights' new album Some Racing, Some Stopping. A much more refined sound than their previous album. The best song on it is Market Girl.

Throwin' Shapes

New video from Minus the Bear. Made me laugh a bit. Whats not to like, its got air b-ball. The rooftop battle at the end of the video: effing hilarious.

Musical Stylings

Saw this on Stereogum. A guide in how to dress like your favorite band.

I want a bit of Beirut, Vampire Weekend, and Grizzly Bear in my wardrobe. Collectively as an outfit, I wonder how that would sound.

Musical orgasm? Or a mesh of horrid noise?

While You Wait For The Others

I just think the band Grizzly Bear has such a natural sound. Check them out. Here's their recent live session on KCRW.

Scandinavians Do It Better

Yeah. I said it.

I've been thinking about this for awhile now and I've come to the conclusion that music hailing from the Scandinavian region is better. It isn't that their music has a specific sound even, its as diverse as it can get, but I've found that I'm really fond of music generated from there.

Check it (just a sample of some artists):

Jens Lekman: "Into Eternity"

The Radio Department: "Pulling Our Weight"

Lykke Li: "Little Bit"

Black Fox

I'm a sucker for great design, so check out and download these cool wallpapers onto your computer. The man providing the designs will be bringing you more every week so keep a look out.

Music Festivals

Music is one of the greatest joys in life. There is yet a day that I haven't gone to listening to at least one song. And having to see my favorite artists perform goes without saying is something I love doing.

I've always wanted to go to a music festival. Back home, the closest to a music fest that I'd be able to go to would be the annual Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco, but they've always had a weak lineup. As for Coachella, it would have been too far for my parents to allow me to fly down to Indio. But now that I live in the OC, Coachella isn't a far-reaching idea for me anymore since I live much closer. Coachella has always showcased some of the best artists in their weekend lineup and their headliners are some of the biggest names in music. This year though Coachella has disappointed me with one of their weaker years. And they sold out of single day passes, I am not willing to shell out $300 and hotel for the whole weekend.

This summer will hopefully bring better music fests. Just last week I heard news of the first Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in August at Golden Gate Park in SF, and to my surprise and glee Radiohead will be headlining. Also there was that Treasure Island Music Fest last year. It had a pretty solid lineup, but I couldn't go because of prior commitments, but later in September it will be returning.

Hopefully if their lineups are good enough you'll see me there amongst the crowds. Woot!

Baby Mama

"I wanna put my baby inside you"
I love Tina Fey. 30 Rock. SNL. What more can I say she's witty and sexy.

Update

Okay, so I know I haven't updated this thing in awhile. I've been busy with a little thing called college. I figured I should at least post a few things before another of my absences.
